Social meeting - Textiles from around the World

 

Members and friends joined us on a sultry summer evening to share tea, home-made cake and textile chat.  Many of us brought in our textile treasures from around the world to share with friends and talk about their stories.  We saw beautiful pieces from New Zealand, Kyrgyzstan, India, Thailand, Korea, China (Miao), Sri Lanka, Egypt, Malaysia and, closer to home, Spain.  Highlights were a pleated Miao skirt, and a made to measure Indian sari set in vivid turquoise.

 

We then drew the raffle for Linda Miller’s kind gift to CETG to raise money for the group, and the winner was both a Linda Miller collector and there on the night – well done Deborah!

 

Several people had brought in their current projects or work from recent workshops at the Oxford Summer School.  Heads crowded round to admire the work and ask for details.  Surplus cake found new homes and we all went off happily into the night.
