May Meeting 11 May 2026
Members were delighted to see a demonstration by one of our own, Ros Cooper, who showed us the incredible botanical prints she can achieve with a Gelli Plate. Ros prints onto tissue paper which she then stitches both by hand and by machine. Ros shared some of her beautiful experiments and samples.

Janet Edmonds then led us on a short session exploring straight stitch. Although we might all be familiar with straight stitch Janet showed us how this simple mark can be made to look really interesting by changing direction, exploring colour combinations, reducing scale, overlapping stitches, varying the size and quality of thread etc.
We were very grateful to both Ros and Janet for making it such an interesting and fun evening.
April Meeting 13 April 2026
Our April meeting saw us getting together for the first time in person this year. We started with making name badges for ourselves. The common theme for the badges was black and white, with each member being free to interpret the text in their own style. Experimenting with dissolvable sticky support not only helped to make the letters a little bit tidier than freehand stitching but resulted in sticky fingers and needles too. Two fun hours later (not to forget tea and the lovely cake baked by Margaret!) a selection of black-and-white name badges emerged. Thank you Michaela for organizing this fun activity for us.
